The Hair Transplant Procedure

he hair transplant is an out-patient procedure performed under local anaesthesia and takes approximately 4-8 hours. The scalp needs to be trimmed before the procedure. FUE, FUT, or a combination of techniques is used for harvesting hair follicles, which are separated into groups under a microscope.
Small micro slits are made in the direction of natural hair into which the individual hair follicles are then implanted. A light dressing is given to cover the donor and transplanted region.
Recovery after Hair transplant
It is common to have some amount of crusting and swelling after the procedure. The transplanted area is gently cleansed with normal saline for 2-3 days. A head high position with moist compresses is advised to minimise the swelling.
Avoid strenuous activity for 3-4 days. Avoid exposing your head out in the sun for 2 weeks. Regular shampoo and hair care can be started after 2 weeks.
You are advised to continue medical management. The grafted hair begins to grow after 3-4 months after hair transplantation.
