Getting ready for Procedure
Dr. r. The Procedure

ip reduction surgery is usually performed as a daycare procedure under local anaesthesia unless planned with other facial procedures. The procedure takes approximately 20-40 mins. A thin strip of tissue along the dry-wet border of the pink part of your lips (vermillion) is marked and excised. Sutures are placed to create a new lip line with a smaller pout. It can be performed on both upper and lower lips to maintain proportion.
Lip lift surgery can also be performed as a daycare procedure under local anaesthesia unless planned with other facial procedures. The procedure takes approximately 40-60 mins. Dr. Sudhanva prefers the ‘bullhorn lip lift’ where the incision is placed just beneath the nose and gives an inconspicuous scar. A strip of stretched out skin of the shape of cupid’s bow is excised and sutured to raise your lip to a more natural position.
Lip Augmentation with injectable hyaluronic acid fillers or fat grafting can be additionally performed simultaneously to add volume to the lips and are performed as office-based or daycare procedures.
Recovery after Procedure
Since it’s a daycare procedure, you will be observed for a few hours post-procedure and then discharged the same evening. Immediately after the procedure, the lips may feel tight and swollen. Some swelling and bruising of the lips is expected post-procedure and usually disappears by 5-7 days.
Patients are advised to sleep with their head-end elevated to reduce the swelling. Oral Liquids and a soft diet briefly until the swelling subsides. An antiseptic mouthwash is advised after every meal to prevent infection. The result of surgery is dramatic and immediately visible and improves over the next few weeks as the swelling disappears.

The Follow Up
