Getting ready for Procedure

The Body Lift Procedure
The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately 2-4 hours. In an upper body lift, the excess skin rolls around your chest and back are removed to give you a flat chest with a well contoured upper body. The nipple is relocated to a natural position. In case of a lower body lift, the excess sagging skin is removed, and the upper abdomen skin is sutured to give a taut, well-toned abdomen.

Since the skin excess is mostly circumferential, the procedure is continued into the back to give you tighter buttocks and a well-toned back. Depending on the skin excess, a new umbilicus may have to be created.
Tubes drains are placed, if necessary, to avoid the collection of blood or fluid, and are removed after 24-48 hours. A Compression garment is applied.
Recovery after Procedure
Following your surgery, you will be under observation until you are fully awake, pain-free, and comfortable. A Flexed position with the head end of bed raised and two pillows under your knees is given. This position prevents any tension on your suture line and allows better recovery.
A bent position is advised for 7-10 days after surgery for the same. The patient is encouraged to stand and walk with support the same day of surgery to prevent blood clots and early recovery. Some bruising and soreness is expected for a couple of weeks after surgery.
Compression garments are advised for a minimum of 12 weeks. The result of surgery is immediately visible and improves over the next 3-6 months once all the swelling reduces and skin redrapes to a more firmer and taut contour. The Follow Up
